F.A.Q

What order do I teach the books in?

L1 Phonemic Awareness - Short Vowels & Consonants -> L1 Phonics - Short Vowels & Consonants -> L2 Phonemic Awareness - Blends & Digraphs -> L2 Phonics - Blends & Digraphs (coming soon) -> L3 Phonic - Open & Closed Syllables (coming soon).

Are the book levels the same as grade level?

Keep in mind that a child's current age group doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re at that step in their early literacy development. The 5 pillars reading pillars include phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Each component plays a crucial role in developing strong reading skills.

Do I need Phonemic Awareness?

If your child is struggling with decoding and fluency, yes.

ORDER TO TEACH THE BOOKS

START HERE

Step One

How we learn to read begins with Phonological Awareness and the critical role it plays

Learning to read begins with hearing how words sound and being able to identify the sounds in words. Phonological awareness involves being able to recognize and manipulate the sound within words. A foundation skill in reading success.

Step Two

When children know how to decode, they will be able to read almost any word they encounter.

Phonics is an essential part of learning to read because it teaches relationship between speech sounds and the way they are represented in print, especially in early reading instructions. L1 - Phonics is a systematic and explicit teaching of phonics.

Step Three

Phonemic Awareness  - Blends and Digraphs

Phonemic Awareness introduces the sounds of blends and digraphs.

TEACHERS & SCHOOLS

Research Based & Tested

Research-based to align with what decades of reading research has shown to be effective. We incorporated findings from our research to build an explicit and systematic program for teaching children of all ages to read and spell words. Before releasing the program, we spent four years developing and piloting each component. We observed lessons, and received feedback from teachers who were using the program.
